My Smartphone Battery Draining Too Fast, See 8 Sure Ways To Improve it.

In this 21st Century Smartphones have come a long way in terms of design, camera, or even processing power. However, we have not seen much breakthroughs when it comes to battery technology.

That said, here we have listed out some lesser known tricks that will help you get the most out of your smartphone battery:

1. Don't use you phone while Charging

Many of us are too fond of this, I know how important you might need your smartphone at that period when you are charging it, but you have to understand the fact that charging and using the smartphone weaken the battery life of about 0.8% each and everytime u make us of it in such way.

2. Don’t miss on Android updates

Updating apps might seem to be a cumbersome task, but it actually helps in improving the overall smartphone performance and battery life. This is because developers keep updating apps to improve on battery and memory optimisation. So make sure your smartphone has the latest version of apps installed.

3. Turn on airplane mode

This is not an everyday solution, but can help you cut battery usage. Turning on airplane mode will cut you from the outside world, but will allow your smart phone to last longer for multimedia apps such as videos, music player or games that don’t need any connectivity.

It can do wonders if you are travelling in a poor network zone where your smartphone antennas consume a lot of power to register on the available networks. Simply turn on the airplane mode if you don’t want to receive any calls, messages or use the internet.

4. Turn off vibration and haptic feedback

We like the mild vibrations while typing on the smartphone keyboard. But they absorb a good amount of battery because we spend a lot of time on typing throughout the day.
Besides, if you don’t need to get notified by vibration, then turn the `haptic feedback’ off as it actually takes more battery power to vibrate your phone than it does to ring it.

5. Go for Black coloured wallpapers

If your smartphone boasts an AMOLED display, then applying black coloured wallpapers will help you save battery life. This is because pixels that make the AMOLED displays only utilize battery power to illuminate light colours and don’t need any energy to show black colour. Simply put, the more dark or black pixels you have on your AMOLED display, the less power it consumes to illuminate them, thus saving the battery.

6. Check GPS, Bluetooth, NFC

Also, don’t forget to check on Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi, NFC and mobile data if you are not using them. Switch off the Wi-Fi if you are connected on mobile data and vice versa. The NFC feature may get turned on if you restart your NFC-enabled handset, so keep a check on this too.

7. Remove on-screen widgets

Android operating system is all about widgets that offer tons of information on your smartphone displays. It is a good thing to have everything on screen; however, it plays havoc on your smartphone battery. Delete the widgets that are placed to offer information not required throughout the day and still fetch data from internet such as weather apps etc.

8. Turn off auto-sync

Apps such as Gmail, Twitter, calendar, constantly refresh themselves to offer the latest information. This is required if you just cannot afford to miss important information, but also takes a toll on battery life.

Go to Settings > Google account and turn off auto-sync for apps you don’t need constantly updated.

Etisalat 4G LTE Network Now Live In Nigeria

Finally! Etisalat has also joined tge 4G LTE family. This is coming just few days after Glo launched theirs. So now, out of the big four telecom operators, MTN, Glo and Etisalat now supports 4G LTE network which leaves only Airtel in the GSM 3G network category.

Mtn was actually the first of the big four to launch it’s 4G LTE network after it acquired Visafone last year, but now Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has re-framed the (1800Mhz) spectrum which now makes it possible for other telecom providers to launch their own 4G network even without owning a 4G spectrum.

At the moment, Glo currently offers the widest 4g network coverage as it’s available in 9 cities while Mtn is available in 3 cities and Etisalat 4G network coverage is only available in some parts of Lagos at the moment.

But the telc company has promised to expand his network coverage soon.
If you happen to be one of those whose smartphone isn’t compatible with Glo and Etisalat 4g LTE, then you might want to check out Etisalat instead as it supports more older 4G LTE Smartphones compared to the rest.

Another good thing is that all Etisalat sim cards are Universal Subscriber Identity Module (USIM) which means there is no need upgrading your sim card before you can enjoy the Etisalat 4g service.
While we wait on Airtel to release theirs, you currently have a different options to choose from. You can read more on the Glo 4g and Mtn or Visafone 4G.

Google Set To Buy Twitter Soon

Following several reports that Twitter is on the brink of being sold, the company’s stocks increased up to 21 percent on Friday.
According to CNBC, potential buyers like Salesforce, Google, Verizon and other top tech companies are interested in the data that is generated by the company’s active users.

So far, this year has been a turbulent one for Twitter with 30 percent drop in stocks. Experts observed that it is due to a decline in user growth and weak ad revenue in the last two years. Most advertisers now prefer Facebook and a great number of people find it difficult to use Twitter.

Some industry analysts observed that Salesforce will be the best fit if it eventually acquires the company. Even though Google or Salesforce is yet to release any official statement up to this moment, Salesforce’s chief digital evangelist, Vala Afshar made known his opinion about Twitter in a tweet.

The company has been struggling to meet up with newer social media sites since Jack Dorsey became the CEO two years ago. In a recent move, social videos were introduced as a result of deals like the National Football League games on Thursday nights which has a slight positive effect to its previous state.

The oncoming general election debates are set to be live-streamed on Twitter. There are speculations that the acquisition deal could be finalized before the year runs to an end.

Snapchat Changed Its Name To Snap, Launches Camera Glasses - See Reason!

Photo:  Snap Inc.

Snapchat a popular messaging app that has been in existence over the years have successfully changed its name to Snap after unveiling or announcing a new product called Spectacles that feature a camera that captures video you can immediately share through a connected mobile device only through the snapchat application.

Snapchat changed their name because the company started with only snapchat as their sole product but after launching into spectacles and extending their branches, they decided to rename or change the company name with something that will serve all their products without interfering with others. That's why is being changed to
Snap .
Here's how chief executive Evan Spiegel explained the name change;
"When we were just getting started it made sense to name our company Snapchat Inc., because Snapchat was our only product! Now that we are developing other products, like Spectacles, we need a name that goes beyond just one product – but doesn’t lose the familiarity and fun of our team and brand.
We decided to drop the “chat” and go with Snap Inc!
Changing our name also has another benefit: when you search for our products it will be easier to find relevant product information rather than boring company information or financial analysis. You can search Snapchat or Spectacles for the fun stuff and leave Snap Inc. for the Wall Street crowd"

So that was the reason they renamed the company name. Well, let's see how the Snap spectacles look and functions.

See how snap spectacles look like

So this sunglasses record 10 second videos, which can be sent over to your smartphone via Bluetooth or WiFi and saved in the Snapchat app.
