Defender Echiejile Insists- Beating Zambia Will Be A Good Start For Super Eagles In The World Cup Qualifier

Elderson Echiejile has said that Nigeria must kick off their World Cup qualifier against Zambia on a winning note, saying that starting their campaign away from home reduces pressure on the team.

The Standard Liège left full back made coach Gernot Rohr’s squad for the trip to Ndola, as the Super Eagles battle the Chipolopolo at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Sunday.

“The fixture is a really good start for us. At least starting away is good because it takes off the pressure, so we will just go out there and get a good result,” Echiejile told postzambia

“If we start very well with the away game that will really be good for us.

“To be sincere it is not going to be easy. But with hard work, and commitment, and playing well as a team, it is going to be a positive result at the end.”

Etisalat 4G LTE Network Now Live In Nigeria

Finally! Etisalat has also joined tge 4G LTE family. This is coming just few days after Glo launched theirs. So now, out of the big four telecom operators, MTN, Glo and Etisalat now supports 4G LTE network which leaves only Airtel in the GSM 3G network category.

Mtn was actually the first of the big four to launch it’s 4G LTE network after it acquired Visafone last year, but now Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has re-framed the (1800Mhz) spectrum which now makes it possible for other telecom providers to launch their own 4G network even without owning a 4G spectrum.

At the moment, Glo currently offers the widest 4g network coverage as it’s available in 9 cities while Mtn is available in 3 cities and Etisalat 4G network coverage is only available in some parts of Lagos at the moment.

But the telc company has promised to expand his network coverage soon.
If you happen to be one of those whose smartphone isn’t compatible with Glo and Etisalat 4g LTE, then you might want to check out Etisalat instead as it supports more older 4G LTE Smartphones compared to the rest.

Another good thing is that all Etisalat sim cards are Universal Subscriber Identity Module (USIM) which means there is no need upgrading your sim card before you can enjoy the Etisalat 4g service.
While we wait on Airtel to release theirs, you currently have a different options to choose from. You can read more on the Glo 4g and Mtn or Visafone 4G.

LOL! Arsenal Star Alex Iwobi Mocks PHCN Of Nigeria

Nigeria international Alex Iwobi has taunted the Power Holding Company of Nigeria following power outage in the Super Eagles’ Bolton White and Apartments’ camp in Abuja.

The 20-year old forward jokingly expressed his feelings with an open mouth and a cold sweat smiley when the country’s power supplier did what they know how to best – an unusual scenario for Iwobi who is based in north London.

The Arsenal forward was on target twice for the Super Eagles in their 3-0 win against topflight league side Plateau United, and he would be hoping to inspire Gernot Rohr’s men to victory against the Chipolopolo in Ndola.

How Can You Say You Used N270m To Clear Grass At IDP Camp? – Reps Probe SDF Lawal

House of Reps committee investigating alleged diversion of funds and materials meant for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPS), especially the alleged use of N270million just to clear grass by the office of the Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF) said it was being frustrated by the refusal of the SGF, Mr Babachir Lawal, to appear before it.

The Committee on IDPs and the North-East Initiatives, mandated to investigate the allegation had invited Lawal to explain how his office spent about N12billion allocated for the IDP issues.

The committee is also investigating the expenditure of N270m by the Presidential Initiative on the North-East (PINE) “on just clearing of grass’’. Also being probed by the committee is the purported allocation of N188.69 million for Nigerian refugees living in Minawao, Republic of Cameroon.

Expressing disappointment with the attitude of the SGF towards the committee, Chairman of the committee, Rep. Sani Zorro, said “The SGF who was slated to have appeared hasn’t showed up. He did not write to intimate us on why his office would not come to explain why issues of internally displaced persons have remained un-encouraging, in spite of the billions of naira claimed to have been spent.

“The PINE officials said he’s at the villa. But, as the secretary to the government under whose office the rehabilitation of the North-East was placed, we had expected him to come to throw light on the financial expenses made by his office.
“We also expected him to explain the implementation framework being used to spend money.

“We have been inundated by reports of diversion of materials and funds meant for the rehabilitation of the IDPs, and the North-East and the scandal had led to international embarrassment for Nigeria.
“Given the issues of credibility and integrity raised against the agency in charge of the North-East Initiative (PiNE) which falls under the SGF office, we had expected him to respect the invitation.”

THE DEFENCE

Testifying before the committee members, Executive Secretary in charge of the Presidential Initiative, Mr Umar Gulani, said that N270m was awarded as contract. He said the contract was for the removal of 250 kilometres of “invasive plant species along river channels and simplified village irrigation scheme (phase II) in Komadugu Basin in Yobe’’.
In reaction, Zorro expressed dissatisfaction with the explanation, saying, “we are of the opinion that the expenditure of the magnitude you have made is not justified.

“ It’s not acceptable that you spent such a huge amount of money on the clearing of weeds while 2.5 million internally displaced victims of terror go hungry. They have no shelter and medical care.”

The committee, therefore, demanded further details from PINE, to be submitted to it without delay.

NFF To Punish Moses, Success For ‘Snubbing’ Zambia Match

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), is reportedly set to ban the Super Eagles duo of Victor Moses and Isaac Success, after they pulled out of Sunday’s 2018 World Cup qualifier against Zambia in Ndola.

Officials of the federation feel that the two players did not make genuine claims about their injuries and have decided to investigate the matter.

If the claims are found to be false, the NFF will discipline them and may even choose not to invite them in future.
Both Moses and Success played for their Premier League clubs last weekend.

Moses started his first league game for Chelsea in three years, while Success came off the bench to score for Watford in their 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.
“We know the two players had good games and there was no sign of injury on the duo during or after the game,” an NFF source told Completesportsnigeria.com.

“It came as a surprise to hear later that Moses was injured and that he would not be available for the game and Success finished his team’s game before claiming injury.
“Honestly, they won’t go unpunished if our investigation turns out as we are suspecting. In fact, we are considering writing a protest to FIFA if we find out that they connived with their respective clubs to feign injuries and stay away from the matches.”

Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, has already called up Godwin Obaje of Wikki Tourists and Chisom Egbuchulam of League Champions, Enugu Rangers, to take their places.

NDLEA Denies Torturing, Saying We Did Not Insert A Long Pipe In Baba Suwe Anus During Interrogation

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEAa, has debunked the claims that that its operatives subjected popular Yoruba actor, Babatunde Omidina, to physical torture during the period he was incarcerated by the agency for allegedly being in possession of hard drugs.

The Head, Public Affairs of the NDLEA, Mr, Mitchell Ofoyeju, who was reacting to the allegation by Nollywood actor, Yomi Fabiyi, that Baba Suwe’s health was worsening due to torture at the agency, said the story was unfounded.

Fabiyi had, in a statement posted on his Instagram page on Wednesday, claimed that
Baba Suwe told him that he could no longer walk properly because a pipe was inserted in his anus during the period that he was detained by the NDLEA.

“He told me that he could no longer feel comfortable since that episode. Baba Suwe can hardly walk properly as I speak, let alone go to film. How will he feed and take care of the children that Aunty Moladun left behind?

“He told me when I visited him that he was innocent and a long pipe was inserted in his anus. He was detained for too long, among other things, just because he was randomly suspected like every normal person.
“Torture is criminal and sinful. If this accusation is found to be true by independent investigators, it shouldn’t go unpunished,” he had said.

But Ofoyeju dismissed the actor’s claims as false, saying, “The NDLEA did not torture Baba Suwe. If he was tortured, he would have said it himself. This is just an unfounded rumour on the social media and it should be disregarded.

“As a matter of fact, Baba Suwe was given the best treatment. We treated him with due regard to the requirement of fundamental human rights globally. He was talking to his relatives and lawyer. He was never kept in a prison for the period that he stayed here because he was virtually under our observation.”

Also, regarding Fabiyi’s claim that the NDLEA failed to obey a court order to pay Baba Suwe the sum of N25m in damages, the spokesman said that the agency was not obliged to obey the order since a substantive ruling by the Court of Appeal had directed it not to pay the actor.
“If Baba Suwe had gone to the Supreme Court, perhaps his case would have been upheld. But he did not do so,” Ofoyeju told Punch

Protest In London Over Immediate Prosecution Of Shi’ite Leader, El-Zakzaky

Nigerians in the United Kingdom, Thursday, demanded the immediate prosecution of the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Sheik Ibraheem El-Zakzaky for alleged terror related activities, saying the prosecution became necessary, as he (El-Zakzaky) has been indicted by investigations into a faceoff between his group and the army in December 2015.
They took to the streets of London, in the United Kingdom to demand the prosecution of the Shi’ite leader.

Recall that El-Zakyzaky has remained in detention since being arrested following the incident that made the military launched an operation to clear out members of his group, who obstructed the convoy of the Chief of Army Staff and reportedly made an attempt on his life.

The Movement of the People of Nigeria, whose members protested at the Commonwealth Secretariat, in London, alleged that the delay in arraigning the IMN leader as a mistake that has made his followers bolder and more dangerous.
The movement also slammed Iran for interfering in the affairs of Nigeria by its backing for the IMN, which it described as a terror organisation with a demand that IMN members also be tried and their finances investigated for subversion for inviting Iranian intervention in Nigeria’s internal affairs. UK Coordinator of the Movement of the People of Nigeria, Joe Mayowa warned that the protests would spread to other world cities and major Nigerian cities if the federal government fails to immediately begin prosecution of El-Zakyzaky and other IMN leaders that were indicted by several reports on his group’s faceoff with the army last year.

In a statement on behalf of the movement, Mayowa noted that that the federal government had made similar mistake in the past when founding members of the Boko Haram terror group were not diligently prosecuted. He said: “It was that mistake that bred the bloodthirsty horde that carried out attacks in Abuja and some other cities in Nigeria. Nationals of Commonwealth nations were killed in those attacks.

The decision not to prosecute pioneer Boko Haram members was driven by local politics but the fallout was felt by nationals of all nations on earth. “A greater mistake is being made by not prosecuting members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) for their acts of violence against the state and against citizens of Nigeria and Commonwealth nations.

The group’s members have mirrored every single crime committed by Boko Haram in its formative years yet nothing significant have been done to put its members on trial for breaching the peace in manners that resulted in the loss of life.
“It may also not be a mistake, in which case the delay in prosecuting detained IMN leaders could be a silent plea for international backing by the Nigerian government. It is important the world is able to reassure the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that they have the world’s support for nipping the growing terror of IMN in the bud.

“A clear message must be sent to the government that the firmness with which it deals with the IMN threat is a matter global interest as any fallout from delay in dealing with the threat posed by the group will affect the whole world.
“For the avoidance of doubt, events of December 2015, when IMN members made an attempt on the life of a senior administration official sparked off chains of events that proved the group is not to be treated with kid’s gloves. Those events exposed the fact that the IMN has the capacity to take on the Nigerian state in battle and would not shy away from attempting it if drastic measures that enjoy international support are not taken.

“The result of several investigations of those events is profound. They all want the prosecution of the IMN leader, Mr Ibraheem El-Zakyzaky and all those that supported him in that insurrection. The Kaduna State Judicial Commission of Inquiry set up by Governor Nasir El-Rufai clearly indicted him and recommended him for prosecution. “The report of the National Human Rights Commission (NHCR) specifically demanded an immediate trial of El-Zakyzaky and his supporters for causing that injurious breach of the peace,” he stressed.

2 Kidnappers Arrested In Zaria After A Tip Off and Long Chase

Military authorities of the 1 division, Nigerian Army last night disclosed that troops have arrested some kidnapping kingpins who are members of a gang terrorizing and abducting several travellers and unsuspecting members of the public for ransom.

Also this came as three women who are suicide bombers for the Boko Haram terrorists group were killed yesterday before they could carry out their devilish act.
The arrest followed a hot pursuit after the gang was given out by citizens information when they attempted to kidnap some victims for ransom.

Giving details of the arrest, Col Sani Usman, Acting Director, Army Public Relations said, “On Wednesday 5th October 2016, troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army stationed in Anchau, Kubau Local Government Area of kaduna State, arrested 2 kidnappers in the process of collecting ransom from a kidnap victim’s family in the area.

“The arrest followed a tip off by well meaning Nigerians that the kidnappers had arrived Dutsen Wai for ransom collection from their hapless victim’s family.
On receipt of information, the troops swung into action in an unmarked car and trailed them to the rendezvous for the collection.

“The kidnappers who are believed to be operating along Kaduna-Abuja road, however fled towards Zaria in a Honda car with registration number AJ 183 ABJ AJ 183 ABJ when they realized that they were being trailed.
“Consequently, the pursuing troops alerted the police stationed in Soba. In the process fleeing, the kidnappers overran the police checkpoints at Soba and Maigana and proceeded to Zaria where they were finally apprehended.

He said “The troops recovered Honda Accord car, one mobile telephone handset, 4 MTN, 1 Airtel Subscribers identified module (SIM) cards, 1 micro SD card, a national identity card, an INEC voters registration card, and a Miyetti Allah cattle Breeders’ Association of Nigeria Identity Card.

Also recovered were a United Bank for Africa and Keystone Bank Debit Cards, cash sum of Twelve Thousand, Seven Hundred and Ten Naira (N12,710.00k) and a Notebook containing several names, addresses and telephone numbers of kidnap victims families and relations. Usman added that “The suspects are currently being investigated.”

Also last night said three women attempted to force their way into troops location but were exposed by vigilantes who suspected their dressing and the nature of the hijab they were wearing which contained IEDS.
The statement signed by Col Sani Usman said, “Today, Thursday 6th October 2016, at about 12.25pm, 3 female suicide bombers attempted to attack a military location at Gwoza, Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State.

“The suicide bombers who came through Pulka axis were sighted by members of vigilante from a distance and alerted the troops about the impending catastrophe. “The very observant vigilante also noted that the women looked suspicious; walking awkwardly with bulging hijab and distinct from other female farmers.

“When the suicide bombers noticed that they were being observed, they hurriedly ran towards troops aiming to detonate it on them. The troops neutralized 2 of the female suicide bombers, while the other ran back into the bush but was pursued.
“Unfortunately, a soldier sustained injuries due to the impact of the explosion. He said “The wounded soldier is currently receiving treatment at a military medical centre and he is in stable condition.”

Tension over Shi'ite's new building in Kaduna

There was mild tension in Saminaka, headquarters of Lere local government area Kaduna State, as The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, and the Muslim community kicked against the location of a new building site belonging to the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, IMN, popularly known as Shiite.

The two faith groups, therefore, called on the state government to quickly act to avert another bloodshed in the state.
In a letter of complaint/security alert, dated 26th September, 2016, issued by RCCG provincial Pastor, Oludare Ojo and addressed to the chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Kaduna State chapter and security agencies, he said Shiite’s return to the area was a threat to the church and the community based on the proximity of the the sect’s building to the church.

RCCG letter reads:

“This is to bring to your notice that the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, IMN, led by Al-Zakzaky are working on a building right in front of our Church, The Redeem Christian Church of God, Nassarawa, behind Post Office Saminaka.
“This project has been abandoned for over seven years. We believe this was due to the issue the Church raised against them in 2009.
“We are aware of an agreement reached between the Church and the group in 2009 (see attached), but due to the recent incidents in the country and the Shiites group modus operandi, we see their return as a big security threat to the Church and the community at large.
“We pray that the building project be discontinued since the Church building has been in existence years before their coming.
“We therefore call on you, the CAN chairman, to use your honourable office towards ensuring that the issue is urgently looked into to forestall unpalatable incidence that may occur in the future.”
Also, Muslim clerics in the area have equally alerted the Sardinia Saminaka and security agencies of threats by some members of their communities to forcefully pull down the sect’s building if urgent action was not taken.
It would be recalled that the army had a bloody encounter with Shiite members, which left many dead in Zaria last year.
The Shiite leader, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, is being held in detention over the bloody attacks, despite protests for his release by the sect members.
Meanwhile, Shiite’s spokesman, Ibrahim Musa, said: “When we were worshiping with other Muslims, they said they don’t want us, that is why we decided to build our centre.
“The building is just an Islamic Centre. We have an Islamic school there in Saminaka. Just that some people who are against us, like Izaila, those muslims who go to Saudi Arabia are the one against us.
“We have Certificate of Occupancy C of O. I cannot categorically say we have building plan from KASUPDA.
We got an order today that the building should be stopped. I dont think any true Christian will be against us.”

“I'm OK & Perfectly Fine” Actor Baba Suwe Cries Out

Yesterday, October 5, 2016, actor Yomi Fabiyi in a post shared on his Instagram page called on his colleagues in the movie industry to come to the aid of veteran actor, Babatunde Omidina a.k.a Baba Suwe.

According to his post, the actor was critically ill and could no longer provide for his family.

Now, Baba Suwe told NetNg, “My health is perfectly fine, I don’t want anybody to worry about me,” he said. Adding, “a lot of people have been calling me about the issue all day what Yomi put out is a very old story. I don’t want to talk about the issue any more please ignore it.”

Yomi Fabiyi reported that the torture done to Baba Suwe by National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) is damaging the actor’s health as he can barely walk.
But now Baba Suwe has denied the story, telling fans to ignore Yomi Fabiyi.

Recall that back in 2011, Baba Suwe was arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Murtala Mohammed Airport on the suspicion of ingesting cocaine in his stomach.

He was detained for three weeks by NDLEA. A Lagos High Court ordered NDLEA to pay the sum of N25 million for unlawfully detaining him and also tender a public apology to him, both of which wasn’t done.

65 Corpers Repeat Service Year As NYSC Observes ‘Low-Key Passing Out Ceremony Nationwide

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has carried out this year’s annual passing out and winding up ceremony for the 2015 outgoing Batch ‘B’ stream ‘I’ corps members nationwide.

A total of 7,298 corps members are expected to pass out of the service year in the 2015 Batch B. Out of that number, 4,080 corps members will be passing out as stream I, while the rest are stream II and will be passing out on November 4, 2016.

Speaking at a ‘passing out’ ceremony on Thursday at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Kubwa, Abuja, the Director-General, Brig.-Gen. Sule Kazaure, disclosed that about 65 of the corpers will not be passing out due to one reason or the other.

He said: “For now, only the 2015 Batch B stream I is passing out and they are 4,080. “The rest of them who are in the 2015 Batch B stream II will pass out on Nov. 4, 2016.
“About 65 of them will not be passing out due to one reason or the other. These corps members are likely to face an extension of their service year.

“One corps member died during the service year from an auto crash. Some corpers distinguished themselves by embarking on developmental projects during the service year; they will be honoured by the FCT Minister in November.’’
Represented by Mr Adewoye Omotayo, the NYSC FCT Coordinator, Kazaure added that the scheme held back the yearly ceremony due to current economic challenges facing the country.

“It was a decision made to ensure that all corps members remain safe. On a day like this there is usually a lot of movement of corps members and to prevent any problem from arising we decided to hold back any ceremony.

“The ceremony was also stepped down nationwide because the 2015 Batch B set of corps members were divided into streams I and II. We cannot hold double ceremonies for them just a few weeks apart,” Kazaure said.

“I Consulted 65 Pastors Before I Married Foluke Daramola” – Husband

The activist c*m businessman gave some moments they shared in their three-and-a-half-year old union.

Was he skeptical when he wanted to marry a divorcee since he was also divorced at that time?

He said:

“I did not fancy Nigerian actresses. When I met Foluke, she never proved to me that she was the sterotypical actress. She is a very good cook, washes my underwear, she is homely and not outgoing. In fact, I now prod her to go out. She prefers to be at home with her husband and the children. She is very reasonable, mentally upright, focus and ambitious. She is godly and she can recite 25 psalms in the Bible off hand. She is not money conscious, fun to be with and till date, we still live as friends. We have many things in common. We are activists, we both believe in fighting for our rights.”

Any reaction from his family?

“I wasn’t expecting to marry a perfect woman. I have decided to be her father, her boss, her friend and a teacher. When I was getting married, I told everyone in my family to go all out and make inquiries if she is my wife. I consulted about 65 pastors before I made up my mind on her.”

Who apologises when there is a misunderstanding?

Foluke, the mother of two replied, “I was in a marriage before, so making amends when there is a wrong is no problem. Most of the time, I say, ‘I’m sorry,’ it does not cost anything to apologise. If not given, it can degenerate to anything. Fortunately, he does not suffer from inferiority complex. The kind of upbringing I have is contentment and love. I want to have my husband, children and run my home. When we were about getting married, my father-in-law was skeptical and some of his siblings. I made everybody realise that acting is a profession, which I happen to find myself.”

Kayode said, “Foluke is stubbornly reasonable but quick to accept her fault. She kneels down and apologises and sometimes, sheds tears to show she is indeed sorry. I love her very much, she is like my baby and I don’t fail to tell her when she is wrong. Our quarrel doesn’t last an hour. We are not in this marriage by accident but by the will of God.”

So, what makes a marriage successful?

Kayode proffered, “Maintain that channel of communication. Discuss it all because when you don’t tell her she might not know. Secondly, understand each other. Know your wife and who she is. You must also be friends. Also a man should learn to overlook especially if you are married to a celebrity. I read a book where a writer said nothing is a problem, only thinking makes it so. If you attach meanings to every issue, marriage heads for the rocks.

Not all the time should you overlook but when you want to make a complaint let it be in the confines of your bedroom. Let the man be mentally mature too and be confident in himself. Also, learn to share. A man should not allow his wife do all the chores and he wants to share her money with her, it fails. She is not your slave, she is a human being that deserves happiness.”

Foluke said:-

“The woman is motivated by what she hears and the man, what he sees. Women make the mistake of not spicing up their marriage. What are those things that attracted him to you? Then, don’t stop. He loves my legs and I wear short skirts at home for him. You have to put your man on his toes. Read books and know what excite your marriage. Also, men don’t tell their wives ‘I love you.’ Pay her compliments.

I wash his undies, cook special diet. In fact celebs go the extra mile to make marriage work. We try to pamper, make men feel special and want homes. We need confident men. Take care of your man. Say, ‘I love you’. My husband tells me every morning, ‘I love you.’
