Google Set To Buy Twitter Soon

Following several reports that Twitter is on the brink of being sold, the company’s stocks increased up to 21 percent on Friday.
According to CNBC, potential buyers like Salesforce, Google, Verizon and other top tech companies are interested in the data that is generated by the company’s active users.

So far, this year has been a turbulent one for Twitter with 30 percent drop in stocks. Experts observed that it is due to a decline in user growth and weak ad revenue in the last two years. Most advertisers now prefer Facebook and a great number of people find it difficult to use Twitter.

Some industry analysts observed that Salesforce will be the best fit if it eventually acquires the company. Even though Google or Salesforce is yet to release any official statement up to this moment, Salesforce’s chief digital evangelist, Vala Afshar made known his opinion about Twitter in a tweet.

The company has been struggling to meet up with newer social media sites since Jack Dorsey became the CEO two years ago. In a recent move, social videos were introduced as a result of deals like the National Football League games on Thursday nights which has a slight positive effect to its previous state.

The oncoming general election debates are set to be live-streamed on Twitter. There are speculations that the acquisition deal could be finalized before the year runs to an end.

“How I Intend To Spend My N5m Grand Prize” – MTN Project Fame Winner, Okiemute Reveals

Project Fame, one of the biggest TV shows in Nigeria and West Africa generally has produced a lot of stars making waves all around the world. It produced Iyanya, Praiz, Chidinma,Olawale, Ayo, and many more.

However, the Season 9 of the show was just concluded some days back with another super star in the making, Okiemute Ighorodje as the winner. It was a great moment for her and her family as she was given a grand prize of N5Million, a Brand new SUV car and a recording deal worth millions of Naira.

In an interview with SaharaWeekly’s Osho Oluwatosin, she revealed some topical issues about her career, how she will spend her money, the next step for her career and many more.

Excerpts below:

Q – Can you take us through your Background?

R – My name isOkiemute Ighorodje. I’m from Delta state, I’m 25-years old. I grew up in Delta state. I’m the third among four girls in my family. My dad is an Urhobo Man while my mum is a Delta-Igbo woman

Q – How do you intend to spend your money?

R – Money matter, dem no dey judge am o (laughs). We’ve had really great financial advisers come to the house and i picked one thing from each of them. All of them said one thing which is a very key thing. They said we should leave the money for a while and start thinking of what to do while keeping it away, and generate more funds.

Q – What’s the next step after Project fame?

R – Ahh, hard work. It doesn’t stop here.Infact, it has just started so it’s hard work, trying my best.

Q- Who were you close to among your colleagues?

R – I was close to Pere, because I’ve heard about him before then. We auditioned together from port-harcourt and before then, I’ve been hearing of Pere Davies. We’re musically inclined and as a singer, you get to hear about a particular musician who is equally good and the funny thing is there was a group where we share gospel truth, fact, ideas about God, Pere was there in that group too but the funny thing Is I didn’t even know. I just knew there was a Pere Davies but I wasn’t really looking forward to seeing him because it was just like a ghost communication and we both met at the audition. I didn’t even know he was the one until we got to top 24 and my friend told me he’s there too. I was surprised so we got closer since then.

Q – When was the most challenging moment?

R – Every moment was challenging because there was never a time we were given songs that we think we know it. Everything was challenging.

Q – Were your parents encouraging when you told them about your intention to go to Project fame?

R – I didn’t really tell them. I told them on the morning I was coming for auditioning and they both supported me. They know I love music and in my family, they support you in anything you want to do. Nobody pushes you.

Q –Lagos is a hub of entertainment, now that you won, do you see yourself relocating to Lagos?

R – Let’s look into the future for that.

Q – Was there anytime you felt discouraged during the competition?

R – There was not a time, every moment was encouraging.

Q – Who do you look up to in the entertainment industry?

R – I look up to my seniors. To me, music is everything I enjoy. I don’t really have a particular person. I just choose from all genres.

Q – Now as the winner of Project Fame season 9, what do you think fame will change about you?

R – I’m still going to be me, I won’t change. The only thing that will add to it is hard work

If You Want Regular Séx, Go To Allen Avenue – Kemi Olunloyo Blasts Linda Ikeji

It was popular blogger Linda Ikeji’s 36th birthday last week and controversial journalist and daughter of former governor, Kemi Olunloyo, has taken out time to write Linda Ikeji a caustic birthday message.

In the open birthday message, Kemi Olunloyo revealed how Linda Ikeji allegedly destroyed a number of celebrity marriages, including that of her niece. She also went ahead to claim that Linda Ikeji is 42 years of age and not 36 as she claimed. Read the birthday message below:

”#hnnbirthday Happy 42nd birthday @officiallindaikeji (PART ONE)
”Party’s over and everything is back to normal in the Linda Ikeji media office….or is it? Last week I tweeted things that obsessed Linda Ikeji fans needed to know about me and her warning them to stop comparing me to a blogger as I’m a Journalist. We are NOT in the same league.

Most of her fans are illiterates anyway, female college prostitutes and in the 18-25yo age range. They think I’m jealous of her each time I expose her. Well this is MY BIRTHDAY MESSAGE to her.

”Dear Linda, I saw your interview in Today’s Woman and your birthday Twitter video. Darling you are not 36 yrs and there is no reason to fool your fans. Age is nothing but a number.

People who meet me think I am 35 when I’m actually 52. I look that young. Your life is now catching up with you. There is KARMA now filtering in.

– Linda what does it feel like telling a magazine you never got over Dan Foster?

– How does it feel to be engaged to someone you love and 3 weeks to the wedding it’s cancelled, wasting Aso Ebi, Cow money and even the venue deposit all gone. This is what you did to my niece Adeola Olunloyo.

”Some people heard of this already in 2006 (Global Excellence and City People), 2013 on my Panadol headache audio which I attached below and also March 2016 in my Pulse TV interview exposing many celebrities including you.

”Why do I stress so much on this sad incident? I am constantly watching how your life is going when two people are in love and a “model” ruins their wedding 3 weeks to the day and elderly family members keep asking you what or who a “model” is? You wrecked so many relationships in your lifetime.

Uche Pedro (who forgave you) at Bella Naija vs D’Banj, Deola Olunloyo vs Dan Foster wedding in 2006 and more.

”Journalist and Professional Blogger Stella Dimoko Korkus told me every single relationship you wrecked and you know them, but nothing hurts more than ruining my niece’s wedding.

”So now you are telling the world that you have blogged so much that you forgot your biological clock is ticking. You are now desperate for “regular s*x” like you are some whore. That can be easily achieved on Allen Avenue or as a “Madam” in your Banana mansion. You want a man and a bunch of kids. Karma is now biting you. I’m enjoying my two successful adult children, loving motherhood and single and happy. I don’t need a husband, a husband need ME! Take my advice, at 42 yrs, I don’t know how you are going to start a family instantly.

”You may find a gold digger who wants to spend your money like the Maje Ayida and TeeBillz types. Just ask Toke Makinwa and Tiwa Savage who are now single lovely ladies. My advice to you young lady is not to rush shit and accept your mistakes.

Deola Olunloyo has moved on, Dan Foster has a lovely family and you are alone, single and desperate telling your friends to introduce you to single guys. I was shocked reading this. Your fans kept silent about your desperation. They are illiterates anyway.

”No guy is single in Nigeria these days Linda. You are gonna be the second, third wife or the mistress. Kneel down and ask God for forgiveness, Give Jennifer Aniston a call for advice and listen to my 2013 audio attached. Money can buy a Banana, Pear or Strawberry Island mansion but CANNOT buy a husband and kids.

Good luck Linda, you have no blogger awards yet like Uche Pedro, Omojuwa and Ben Kiruthi. Hope u get that MAMA2016 award and a Happy 42nd birthday! Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo”

Problem!! NLC To Protest Nationwide Due To Assets Sale By President Buhari

The Nigeria Labour Congress has said it will mobilise Nigerians for nationwide protests to resist the plan by the Federal Government to sell strategic assets under the guise of using the funds to be generated to get the country out of recession.

The President of the NLC, Mr. Ayuba Wabba, said the consequences of the proposed sale of the strategic assets would be more grievous if Nigerians did not stop the government from carrying out the policy.
He made the comment on Monday in Abuja while inaugurating a think-tank of the NLC and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, entrusted with the responsibility of leading the intellectual engagement with the Federal Government on the contentious move to sell the country’s assets.

According to him, the NLC is making preparations to battle the Federal Government in courts to prevent the planned sale of the assets, explaining that the congress had secured the services of 20 volunteer lawyers, who had offered their services to the NLC on the issue.

The members of the 10-man NLC’s ‘Think-Tank on Socio-Economic Issues’ are a former President of ASUU, Dr. Dipo Fashina; Prof. Toye Olorode, Dr. Mohammed Aliyu, Dr. Mustapha Usman and Dr. Isaac Nwogugu.
Other members of the committee are Dr. Yemisi Bamgbose, Mr. Issa Aremu, Mr. Sonny Atuma, Dr. Peter Ozo-Eson, and Mr. Auwal Mustapha, who is the secretary.

Wabba stated, “While it is important to rescue our country from the current economic recession, sale of our commonwealth and strategic assets is certainly not a move in the right direction, and all Nigerians must have the courage to oppose it.
“All the (national) assets are under threat depending on the interest of who is speaking; the NLNG, refineries, all the assets are presently under threat. If we work together, then we can try to defend these assets. It will take the effort of all of us to stop them.
“Nobody will buy what is not profitable. That is why people are looking in the direction of the most profitable.”

Wabba stressed that the problem with Nigeria was corruption, which had become endemic in both the private and public sectors, and not the economic model to use.
The NLC president believed that politicians, who stole so much money and had been hiding the loot, were looking for ways to buy the assets with their looted funds.
Wabba assured Nigerians that organised labour was united in the quest to preserve the nation’s strategic assets for Nigerians and future generations.

“We are sure of ourselves; this is of concern to every citizen. We should not allow the bidding of those few who don’t mean well for the country. On the issue of selling out, we are on the same page, we will do everything possible to try to work together.
“We shouldn’t be discouraged because of the fact that we envisage sabotage or an effort to undermine the struggle. In every struggle, there would be moves to sabotage such,” he added.

ACF, economists oppose sale of national assets
Meanwhile, opposition against the plan of the Federal Government to sell some national assets continued to mount on Monday as the Arewa Consultative Forum and the Nigerian Economic Society condemned the proposal, asking the Federal Government to rescind its decision to sell the assets.
The NEC stated that the decision of the government did not make economic sense in the face of the current challenges.

It faulted the argument by the government that the proceeds of the sale would be used to fund the 2016 budget, noting that the sale of the assets would further widen the level of income inequality in the country.
The President, NES, Prof. Ben Aigbokan, stated this in an interview with journalists on the forthcoming national conference of the society on Monday in Abuja.

Aigbokan described the approach being adopted by the government as “generationally irresponsible”.
The conference, scheduled to commence on Tuesday (today), has as its theme ‘‘The developmental state and diversification of the Nigerian economy’’.
The NES president added, “It is an irony that the government is planning to sell some of our national assets at this time because it is a contradiction of one of the policies of government, which is sustainable development.

“The economics of selling national assets now at a time of economic recession is very poor because we will not get a good value for these assets, because people understand that the county is in need of money.

“If you sacrifice our national assets now because we are in need of money, what do you leave for the future generations?
“So, generationally, it is irresponsible to sell these assets without subjecting the decision to a referendum because all Nigerians have a stake in them.”
Also, the ACF on Monday argued that it was needless for the Federal Government to sell off national assets to bail out Nigeria from its current economic woes.

The pan-northern socio-political organisation, through its National Publicity Secretary, Muhammadu Ibrahim, argued that the bloated allowances of public officers, which he said accounted for 40 per cent of the national budget, should be converted to capital allocation to boost the economy.
The ACF argued that selling off national assets to service the economy was completely “unwise” as such move never yielded the desired results in the past.

The statement read in part, “The growing calls by some prominent politicians and business tycoons on the Federal Government to consider the selling of strategic, viable national assets as an option to take the economy out of recession at this material time are inappropriate.

“Past privatisation did not yield the desired result in terms of judicious use of proceeds by the government or management of the assets by the new owners. Moreover, the amount to be realised is not worth the exercise.

“Government enterprises like the Nigeria Airways, Nigeria National Shipping Line, Ajaokuta Steel Company, NITEL, PHCN, etc, that were sold to selected Nigerians and their foreign collaborators in the spirit of privatisation, only succeeded in converting public enterprises to private ones, and some later became comatose. The ones that survived, their service delivery cannot be said to be better.

“ACF therefore considers it unwise for the Federal Government to contemplate the selling of our major national assets like the crude oil refineries, federal airports, NLNG, while we can use them as security against needed funds to boost the economy, as the recession is considered to be temporary.

“In addition, ACF wishes to suggest that unnecessary allowances of public officers and overhead cost that form over 40 per cent of our annual budget should be converted to capital allocation to boost the economy.
“This is the time for national sacrifice in order to bequeath an enduring legacy to the next generation. Positive change usually comes with painful necessary sacrifice.”

On its own, the National Union of Textile, Garments and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria has cautioned President Muhammadu Buhari against the sale of the nation’s assets.
A member of the National Executive Council of the NLC, Mr. Issa Aremu, in a statement in Kaduna on Monday, said Nigeria was not short of resources, arguing that the nation lacked “genuine resourceful leaders at all levels”.

Facing Sack, England Boss Sam Allardyce Is Deeply Embarrassed By Scandal That Could Cost His Job

England manager Sam Allardyce is “deeply embarrassed” after he was secretly filmed discussing the possibility of circumventing FA rules on third-party ownership and mocking predecessor Roy Hodgson, according to Sky sources.

A report in The Daily Telegraph claims Allardyce told undercover reporters posing as businessmen it was possible to “get around” the FA rule, which was introduced in 2008, while also criticising Hodgson, calling Prince Harry “a very naughty boy” and accusing the FA of being “all about making money”.

Sky Sports News understands the 61-year-old, who left his home in Bolton at around 7am on Tuesday morning ahead of meetings at Wembley to consider his future, intends to apologise at the earliest opportunity to Hodgson, but believes that his comments, while ill-advised, were not corrupt, as suggested by the newspaper.

An FA insider has admitted to Sky Sports News that Allardyce displayed “poor judgement” in his words, but added there was disbelief at the governing body that the investigation has come so early in Allardyce’s England career.

Doctor In Ilorin Says Listening To Music Good For Health

Bolarinwa advised people to listen to music as it could also reduce pains in the body.

Listening to music can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and exercise the brain, a medical expert said on Tuesday.
Dr Joshua Bolarinwa of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin that listening to music would do good to the body.

He said that listening to music would boost physical health by relaxing body muscles.
“Listening to music is a good antidote for stress; stress is responsible for over 60 per cent of the diseases common to most patients,” he said.
Bolarinwa told NAN that patients with high blood pressure could have their blood pressure lowered by listening to relaxation music.

“Relaxation music will take worry away from you and it makes you healthy again.’’
According to the doctor, listening to music is one the best ways to exercise the brain.
“Those who listen more to music have better memory than those who do not. Listening to music eases stress, refreshes the brain and makes one feel relaxed.

“When you listen to your favourite music, you will feel at ease and satisfied,” he said.
Bolarinwa advised people to listen to music as it could also reduce pains in the body.
“Music is a good therapy for patients with severe pains,’’ he said.

See Diezani Alison-Madueke’s Meriden Hotel In Port-Harcourt (Photo)

Diezani Alison-Madueke, Nigeria’s former Petroleum Resources Minister, purchased Port Harcourt’s Le Meridien Hotel for $25million from a former Rivers State military administrator, Anthony Akpo, SaharaReporters learned at the weekend.

Our sources say that the transaction was carried out using several persons, including Dauda Lawal, a First Bank of Nigeria Executive Director.

Lawal’s role, according to investigators at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), was to pick up from Skye Bank in Lagos and innocuously drop off $25million cash into a bank account at Sterling Bank PLC.
The directive to pick up the huge cash haul was coordinated by Stanley Lawson, a former group executive director of Finance and accounts at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

During EFCC interrogations, Dauda claimed he did not know that the transaction was aimed at purchasing Le Meriden Hotel in Port Harcourt, and that he was only helping a friend, Mr. Lawson, to run errands.
People knowledgeable about Mr. Lawal’s closeness to Diezani, which some say sometimes appeared to be romantic, said he may not be telling the whole truth.

Lawal was one of the bankers arrested by the EFCC in a recent fraud-related raid of high profile bankers involved in financial crimes perpetrated by Mrs. Alison-Madueke.
Others include Herbert Wigwe of Access Bank PLC, Nnamdi Okonkwo of Fidelity Bank PLC, and Yemi Adeola, the MD of Standard Bank PLC.

Le Meriden hotel was conceived as a five-star hotel. It was built in 2003 by retired Brigadier General Ukpo with the help of Julius Berger, the construction company with whom he became acquainted during his early days first as the military administrator of Rivers state and later as the Principal Secretary to former Military dictator, Ibrahim Babangida.

Ukpo sold the 87-room luxury hotel to Mrs. Alison-Madueke through a web of actors with the hope that no one would find out.
After the EFCC discovered the fraudulent sale, Ukpo reportedly offered to hand over the hotel to the federal government, but President Buhari is believed to have rejected the offer, saying the government has no business managing a hotel, and insisting that Ukpo return $25m to the federation account.
It is unclear why the former army chief has not yet been arrested.

Snapchat Changed Its Name To Snap, Launches Camera Glasses - See Reason!

Photo:  Snap Inc.

Snapchat a popular messaging app that has been in existence over the years have successfully changed its name to Snap after unveiling or announcing a new product called Spectacles that feature a camera that captures video you can immediately share through a connected mobile device only through the snapchat application.

Snapchat changed their name because the company started with only snapchat as their sole product but after launching into spectacles and extending their branches, they decided to rename or change the company name with something that will serve all their products without interfering with others. That's why is being changed to
Snap .
Here's how chief executive Evan Spiegel explained the name change;
"When we were just getting started it made sense to name our company Snapchat Inc., because Snapchat was our only product! Now that we are developing other products, like Spectacles, we need a name that goes beyond just one product – but doesn’t lose the familiarity and fun of our team and brand.
We decided to drop the “chat” and go with Snap Inc!
Changing our name also has another benefit: when you search for our products it will be easier to find relevant product information rather than boring company information or financial analysis. You can search Snapchat or Spectacles for the fun stuff and leave Snap Inc. for the Wall Street crowd"

So that was the reason they renamed the company name. Well, let's see how the Snap spectacles look and functions.

See how snap spectacles look like

Wenger Hails Arsenal Thrashing Of Chelsea As Best Of The Season

Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Chelsea was one of their best performances in recent years, according to manager Arsene Wenger.

The Gunners were dominant, winning through first-half goals from Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil.
It was their first league victory over Chelsea since 2011 and their heaviest defeat of the Blues since April 1997.
“It’s one of the games where what we wanted to do worked very well,” said Wenger.

“It’s one of those moments in your life as a manager where you think ‘today is a great day’.”
The Frenchman said his side had been “nearly perfect” in the first half.
“In the second half it was a bit in and out but in the first half we have shown great quality,” he said.

“We played with style, with pace, with movement – and that’s the kind of football we want to play.
“It’s one of the best performances in recent years.”

Singer, Brymo Dragged To Court By Chocolate City Management [Read Details]

Chocolate City has dragged Brymo to court over N20 million invested in him. According to the management,Brymo only yielded N3 million before breaching his contract.

As reported by PremiumTimes,
“In a court document deposed at the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court, Brymo (the defendant) accused his former label of short-changing him, saying he never received any advance as agreed in his contract for the development of the album Son of A Carpenter.
“The plaintiff (Chocolate City) on many occasions told the defendant that it would give him a release from the contract and then change its mind,” Brymo said.

“The defendant was never paid any royalties on the album Son of A Carpenter nor was he ever given a stated amount of the monies expended by them for the album.
“An email dated 14th May 2013 from the defendant clearly stated that the defendant is owed the sum of N925, 555.83 for the album Son of A Carpenter.”
Brymo also accused his former label of failing to employ a manager for him, transferring one they earlier gave to him to another artiste, and forcing him to single-handedly employ and pay his own manager.
“The defendant never provided a platform for it to release another album, as it did not have the means to do so,” said Brymo.

“It is based on the breach that the defendant wants to be released from the contract so he can continue with his career independent of the label.”
The label claims it paid for, on the singer’s behalf, every recording cost it authorzed and for which a prior approcal was sought and obtained by the singer.
“It is a notorious fact in Nigeria music industry that most artists will fritter away the approved budget if same is handed over to them without producing any commercially and technically satisfactory Master recordings,” Chocolate City stated in its deposition before the court.
“The artists are mostly not business inclined.

“The defendant’s active and passive promotion of drugs/marijuana included posting of pictures of Indian hemp/marijuana on his Twitter handle, Facebook or Instagram,” the label said.
“It got so bad that no reputable company was ready or willing to give him an endorsement deal, thereby deny (sic) himself and the plaintiff good revenue.

However, Chocolate City is asking for N100 million in damages while Brymo’s lawyers want the court to strike out the case because it lacked enough backing.
