See 4 Dangers Of Drinking Cold Water

Hey everyone!

Lets take a look at the harmful or negative effects of Cold water or too much cold water in our system. We all as individuals love cold stuffs especially after a sunny hectic day, we need some cold drinks or water to refresh and cool our body.

This includes even me that’s writing this to you all lol; But we need to know this and how to minimize the rate at which we take in cold drinks regularly..

According to Natural Law, our normal body temperature is about 98.6 degrees F. If we raise that temperature a few degrees, the body starts to show signs of distress, and we say we have a fever.

We try hard to return to homeostasis or normal functioning. Experts have said drinking cold water regularly could have negative impact on the heart and the digestive system. Food and healthy living expert say that cold water is at a temperature that contradicts the overall temperature within the body system.

Even though cold drinks or water has many health benefits, drinking ice water or cold water can only give temporary relief and drinking ice water regularly has its downside.

Here are some reasons why you shouldn’t drink ice or cold water:

1. Shortage Of nutrients:

The body’s temperature is 37o C and when you drink something at a very low temperature, your body has to spend energy to regulate its temperature. This spent energy is otherwise used to digest food and absorb nutrients, thereby leaving your body short of nutrition.

2. Decreases your heart rate:

Drinking ice water or cold water decreases your heart rate. Studies have shown that drinking ice water stimulates the vagus nerve. The vagus nerve is the 10th cranial nerve and is an important part of the body’s autonomous nervous system that controls involuntary actions of the body.

The vagus nerve mediates the lowering of the heart rate and the low temperatures of ice cold water act as a stimulus to the nerve which causes the heart rate to drop.

In conclusion, take water at a normal temperature, the brain is sensitive to temperature change which is why it freezes when one drinks cold water at first, adding that such continuous seizure is not good for it, more so That is why we advise people not to take drugs with cold water.

The drugs will not digest on time; it means you won’t get the best of the drugs because the water did not dissolve on time. Thank You for reading, Kindly drop your thoughts below

3. Slows Down Digestion:

Drinking ice water or cold water hampers the process of digesting food as it causes your blood vessels to shrink. This can slow down the process of digestion and as the food is not digested properly, the nutrients are lost or not absorbed by the body.

4. May Lead To sore throat:

Drinking cold water can cause the buildup of respiratory mucosa, which is a protective layer of the respiratory tract. When this layer gets congested, the respiratory tract is exposed and becomes vulnerable to various infections and hence the chances of your throat turning sore are high.

How I Took My Mind Off My Failed Marriage – Tiwa Savage

Mavin record and Roc Nation artiste, Tiwa Savage in a recent interview with premium times spoke on her career and controversies surrounding her failed marriage.

Read excerpts below:

How have you handled all the controversies that trailed your marriage in April?

It’s been the grace of God and I think I have been able to pull through by simply immersing myself in my work.

And the bad press and ‘nasty’ things written about you?

Generally speaking all that has been written about me doesn’t really affect me anymore. When I got into the industry initially, it was very difficult for anybody to realise this. But now, I have come to the realisation that the hard work you put in and the positive things that you do as an artiste always outweighs the negative. Whether you’re in the media, a banker or a nurse, you’re going to have people talk about you. Not everyone loves Jesus Christ so who am I to talk about people saying things about me? You can’t make everyone happy. I don’t try to waste time on people that don’t love me, so I just spend time with people that love me so I don’t disappoint them.

How do you handle embarrassing moments?

I don’t really think that I have had embarrassing moments like that. But I did have one recently while performing on the stage; where my cloth ripped off. I grew up around boys and my brothers teased me a lot. So, I am used to people making fun of me. I don’t take life too seriously and also, Mavin Records comprises of men; Di’ja and I are the only females. My male colleagues are all fun to be around. So when something embarrassing happens, I just take it laugh off and never take it to heart.

What is next for Tiwa Savage?

Clash Of The (TITANS) - Liverpool Vs Manchester United Line-ups And Team News

Both teams make two changes with Marouane Fellaini and Ashley Young coming in for the visitors and Emre Can and Daniel Sturridge replacing Georginio Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana

Anthony Martial and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are not in Manchester United's squad to face Liverpool, while Wayne Rooney is on the bench again.

Marcus Rashford and Ashley Young start on the flanks, either side of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with Marouane Fellaini anchoring Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera in midfield.

Daley Blind is preferred to Luke Shaw at left-back as Jose Mourinho makes two changes to his side.

Scholes backing Liverpool to beat Manchester United

Former Red Devils midfielder feels his old club are lacking an identity under their manager, who he says wasn't ruthless during the summer transfer window
Paul Scholes feels Liverpool are favourites to beat Manchester United in the Premier League and claims Jose Mourinho has not been ruthless enough early in his Old Trafford tenure.

Liverpool better than envious Man Utd

The two fierce rivals clash at Anfield on Monday, with seventh-placed United three points and three places back from Liverpool after an inconsistent start to their campaign under the Portuguese.

The Reds meanwhile have impressed so far in what is Jurgen Klopp's first full season in charge, prompting United great Scholes to grudgingly endorse the Red Devils' arch-rivals.
"If you were betting, you would be betting on Liverpool," he told BBC Sport.

Liverpool & Man Utd combined XI

United have spent big to re-sign Paul Pogba from Juventus, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Eric Bailly and Zlatan Ibrahimovic also arriving at Old Trafford.

But Scholes believes Mourinho is still searching for his preferred starting line-up.
"He was not ruthless enough in the off season," the former England international said.

"There is so much confusion about who should play.

Klopp: Mourinho past it? It’s bull****!

"What I saw of Mourinho at Chelsea, he had 13 or 14 players who played every week. He never rested players, even in the League Cup or whatever competition he was in.
"With United it is still a settling-in period - it is going to take a bit of time for them to knit together and see what they are about.
"Is there an identity to the team yet? I don't think there is."

"You can see Jurgen Klopp has stamped his way of playing football on the team," he said.

"There is a definite way about them. You know how they are going to play. They are going to be quick, they are going to try to take the ball off you and try to score goals by flooding the box.

"I was worried about them defensively - but they have already played some of the big teams and they are a real threat.
"The form they are in, they look as good as any team in the league."

“Expect More Chibok Girls To Be Released Very Soon” – Lai Mohammed Says

The Federal Government has reassured Nigerians of a further release of a larger batch of Chibok girls abducted by Boko Haram sect two years ago.

Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, has expressed optimism that a bigger batch of Chibok girls will soon be released.

However, he warned analysts and commentators to be careful of the comments they make so that the release of the remaining girls will not be jeopardised, The Cable reports.

Speaking on Sunday in Abuja at a special thanksgiving service for the 21 released Chibok girls, the minister said “reckless analysts and commentators” were not helping the situation for the other girls still in the captivity.

Mohammed said those who doubted the Buhari’s administration to ensure the safe release and the reunion of the abducted Chibok girls with their parents were disappointed.

“They are many reckless analysts and commentators who are not helping the situation. We still have many of our children in captivity. Therefore we have to be careful with the kind of comments that we make. We must not make comments that will make the release of these girls difficult or impossible,” he said.

“When the President said that the Boko Haram saga will not be closed until all the girls abducted have been released and reunited with their families safely, those who doubted did not believe us so we thank God this day has come.”

While appealing to the other parents whose children have not been released, Mohammed said: “This is the beginning and we are very optimistic that very soon another batch bigger than this will be released. I want to assure you that these negotiations are ongoing even as we speak.”

Also speaking, Yakubu Nkeki, chairman of the parents of the abducted Chibok girls, dismissed reports alleging that 18 of the 21 freed girls were pregnant.

He thanked the president for summoning the courage and the political will that eventually led to the release of the abducted girls, and appealed to the general populace to stop spreading rumours, particularly on the social media, that would put the lives of the other girls at risk.

You Have No Shame, And You Are The Cause Of Corruption In Nigeria – Fayose Blast Obasanjo

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has blamed the current spate of corruption in Nigeria on former President, Olusegun Obasanjo.

The fiery governor who used to be in close affinity with the former President but strained relationship after accusing the elder statesman of attempting to impeach him in 2006, described Obasanjo as a laughing stock.

In an interview with the Punch, the governor alleged that Obasanjo bribed lawmakers with N50m each for his failed third term bid.

Wondering if the former President has shame, Fayose alleged that the frequency with which Obasanjo visits the villa, shows that he is trying to “cover up something at all cost.”
Part of the interview reads, “That is if he is ready to make up with me.

“I’m not ready to take issues with Obasanjo because if you are talking about corruption today, Obasanjo is the cause. (What about) the N50m Obasanjo (allegedly) gave each lawmaker for his failed third term agenda?

“I was an Obasanjo boy. Obasanjo can’t be celebrated as a saint in Nigeria. When he talks, I just shake my head. Sometimes, when he goes to the [presidential] Villa, I wonder if he has shame at all. When he was [the president], Buhari was not visiting him regularly. Obasanjo is behaving like somebody who wants to cover [up] something at all cost.

“I want a former president that will know this nation does not belong to one man. Most of the problems in this country were caused by Obasanjo. The impeachment of a governor by four lawmakers was done during Obasanjo’s tenure as a president. Tell me where the moral is.

“We should not deceive ourselves. The fact that he is supporting the government of the day tactically is to protect himself. Sometimes, I ask if he is looking for a political appointment. Have you seen Ernest Shonekan and other former presidents visit Buhari like he does? He is becoming a laughing stock. That is the way I see it.”

Meanwhile, the fiery governor had stated that only a mad man will want to join the All Progressives Congress, APC.

“I Took A Break From Acting To Focus On My Family” – Tonto Dikeh-Churchill

Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh who got married to her beau, Churchill last year in an interview with
Sunday Sun reveals why she took a break from acting, marriage and life as a new mother.

Read excerpts below:

You have not featured in any movie since you got married. Why?

I have not worked in any production after marriage because I have been busy in my primary duties as a wife and mother. I need adequate time to build a solid foundation for my family and for a sustainable home. And I hope to be back in no distant time.

As a married woman, would you accept any role that comes your way now?

As a married woman a lot of things change in your life. Of course, you must have some sense of responsibility in decision making, because it is not just about your life anymore, you have a family to take care of. So, for the respect I have for my head, who is my husband and my neck, who is my son, I can’t play certain roles anymore. And I don’t have any regrets because my family comes first in all I do.

How are you enjoying motherhood?

Surprisingly, I have embraced the role of motherhood with ease, grace and love. Motherhood is a learning process which I am developing each day. By the special grace of God, I must say I am a fantastic mother to my son .

What do you enjoy most being a mother and wife?

(Smiles) I am enjoying every bit of the experience. It has been a wonderful journey. To the glory of God I am thankful for the love I receive and also give. It is priceless. In fact, I am in love with my husband and son.

Could you share your labour room experience with us?

Oh! My labour room experience was beautiful. It was a wonderful experience and may God be praised for all His mercies and love.

You have a glowing skin, do you visit the spa?

Thank you dear. Yes. Regardless of my busy schedule, I do spend time pampering myself. I call it my ‘me time’ where it is all about pampering my skin.

Some of your fans say you have gained weight due to childbirth, are you considering losing it because of the kind of roles you play?

Definitely, it is expected that I add a few pounds because I just gave birth. So, it is imperative to work on losing some weight for myself and the big screen.

Some young mothers don’t like breastfeeding their babies exclusively because of the fear of losing that girlish look, what method would you prefer?

I strongly stand for breastfeeding. I always tell people I would love to breastfeed for a year because I know the benefits of breastfeeding. So, why should I deny my children their right? Although, some of our mothers may love to breastfeed their babies exclusively, due to health challenges, they find it difficult. However, all mothers are great!

What would be your advice to young mothers on breastfeeding?

Mothers and intending mothers should find time to read articles on breastfeeding. It is important to educate ourselves on care for our children so that they can live healthy lives.

What attracted you to your husband?

If you know my husband, it would be hard to pick out what you like most about him because he is such a sweetheart. But I appreciate his efforts in making me a better woman. He has given me so much security as a husband. Honestly, I haven’t had anyone stand by me or want to protect me the way he does. I must appreciate him for all his love. I love him dearly. That’s why I call him my ‘King Kong’.

There is a belief that marriage is a prison. How would you describe yours?

Marriage is a blessing! It’s a new phase and level in life. Marriage from my point of view is awesome if you marry the right person. It is hell if you marry the wrong person. You will hear different stories from different folks. For me, I am waxing stronger and happier in marriage.

Buhari/wife interview: Joke Taken Way Too far – Okorocha Laments

Apparently perturbed by the different shades of interpretations negatively trailing the recent press interviews by President Muhammadu Buhari and his wife, Aisha, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has said the public reaction was a joke taken too far.

Says Aisha Buhari didn’t mean to bring her husband’s govt down

It will be recalled that the wife of the President last week granted a press interview to Hausa Service of the British Broadcasting Cooperation, BBC, where she demanded a rejig of the cabinet, threatening that if nothing was done to better the lot of many impoverished Nigerians, she might not join her husband in the 2019 campaign trails should he decide to run for a second term in office.

But speaking with State House Correspondents, yesterday, in Abuja, Gov. Okorocha, who was present during the conference in Germany having accompanied the President on the visit, said the public had completely misconstrued the statement.

The governor who is also the chairman of ruling All progressives Congress, APC Governors Forum, stated that it would be wrong to believe that the intention of Mrs. Buhari was to pull down her husband’s government.
Okorocha stressed that both the President and his wife were having a nice time together.

He said: “What is now trending in the social media, the comment of Mr. President on the interview of his wife, I was there when Mr. President made the comment. I think both the interview and the comment were taken out of context. I can understand why the international community speaks on this matter because of human rights and all that is going on around the whole world.

“I tend to believe that Nigerians should understand this matter because I do not think those were the intentions as being described on social media and those condemning the act. I can put it this way, that it is a joke taken too far outside the shores of Nigeria.

“If you have been with the person of the President and where he cracks jokes, you will understand with me that it could be his style of jokes because even when he was responding, he was smiling. I don’t think the meaning that is given to it is what it is.
“If not, why would he have his five daughters having Masters and Ph.Ds and his wife educated and putting women in key positions in the country? I don’t think it is.

“Aisha Buhari who granted the interview didn’t give that interview to bring down her husband’s government. She was only trying to make peace among perceived aggrieved members in the polity. I have situations where my wife joins Commissioners and my workers to condemn what I do.

That does not mean she is fighting me. She is rather a bridge of peace between me and them.”

JAMB;-Confirms Candidates No Longer Need Scratch Cards

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has scrapped the use of scratch cards for any of its services and transactions, adding that it would now be using the platform of pin vending to check all forms of fraudulent practices which was prevalent with the use of scratch cards.

A statement issued on Sunday by the spokesperson of JAMB, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, reports the board’s Registrar/Chief Executive, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, as declaring in a paper he delivered during a meeting of the Association of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities that the use of scratch cards is “archaic”.

He also demanded that the Federal Government should revert to the former system where serving Vice Chancellors of Universities were made chairmen of the Governing Board of JAMB.

“The decision is as a result of its consistent subjection to fraudulent practices, the use of scratch cards is archaic and it is the drive by JAMB to also promote accountability in line with government’s zero tolerance for corruption. This new system will be accessible through the options of web payment, ATM issued cards (Visa, verve and Mastercard), online quick teller, ATM payment, quick teller mobile application and Bank Branch case/card,” Oloyede said.

He further disclosed that in the past, the understanding was that only serving Vice-Chancellors were made chairmen of Governing Board of JAMB.

While appealing that government should go back to the practice from inception, the JAMB Registrar argued that since the agency is a creation of the Committee of Vice-Chancellors, it would only be proper for them to be clearly recognised as active stakeholders to avoid any acrimony between tertiary institutions and JAMB.

He was optimistic that going back to the old practices would “engender good synergies and harmonious relationship with a view to effectively delivering on its mandates.”
Oloyede recalled that for almost two decades, specifically between 1977 and 1993, only serving Vice-Chancellors were made Chairmen of the Board of JAMB, from Prof Oladipo Akinkugbe, VC University of Ilorin; Prof Donald E.U Ekong, VC University of Port Harcourt; Prof Adamu Baike, VC University of Benin; Prof Mahdi Adamu, VC University of Sokoto and Prof Isa Mohammed, VC University of Abuja.

He said, “This practice which promoted harmony and quality inputs on the Board’s matriculation activities have since been forgotten or neglected. The appointment of the chairman of the Board could be restricted to only heads of tertiary institutions in Nigeria perhaps in rotational basis among the Vice-Chancellor of Universities, Rectors of Polytechnics, Monotechnics and Provosts of Colleges of Education;

You Belong To My Kitchen, So Stay Away From Politics – Buhari Insists

President Muhammadu Buhari has again re-echoed his earlier stance that his wife belongs in his kitchen.
Buhari while responding to his wife, Mrs Aisha Buhari’s criticism of his government, on Friday said she “belongs to my kitchen” and other rooms.
But the President’s media aide, Garba Shehu immediately reacted to his principal’s comment which has drawn so much criticism saying Buhari was joking.
However, the President in an interview with DW’s Phil Gayle in Germany maintained his earlier stance, saying the function of his wife was to take care of his home.

Excerpt of his interview in part…

DW: Recently your wife criticised your choices for top jobs, and you responded by saying
“I don’t know which party my wife belongs to, but she belongs to my kitchen and my living room.”
What did you mean by that, sir?

Buhari: I am sure you have a house. … You know where your kitchen is, you know where your living room is, and I believe your wife looks after all of that, even if she is working.

DW: That is your wife’s function?

Buhari: Yes, to look after me.

DW: And she should stay out of politics?

Buhari: I think so

Boko Haram Sets FG On Conditions If They Want Remaining Chibok Girls Released | See Details

Indications have emerged that Boko Haram insurgents have given the Federal Government some conditions for the release of more Chibok girls.

A source with details of the negotiation says unlike the release of the 21 girls last Thursday, the release of the remaining girls will be strictly based on the swap of about 16 of the group’s Commanders held in detention and payment of ransom.

Out Of the 219 Chibok girls still missing, only 104 were left as the rest had been married off to top commanders of the sect and converted to Islam, Vanguard reports.
The report claimed that the Islamic group will insist on an upfront payment of huge cash by government before freeing the captives.

According to the source, “The truth is that those Chibok girls are now Boko Haram members, having married the sect members and become radicalised.
“The remaining 83 girls are with a top leader of Boko Haram and those are the only ones we are going to work for their release in the next phase of our negotiations which starts immediately.

“The others had since become Boko Haram members, having been married off and radicalised into Boko Haram as soon as they were captured over two years ago.
“I think the guys are settled on the idea that the cash must come ahead of the release since they had proved to government that they are reliable by releasing the 21 girls, last week, without many conditions attached.”

This revelation is coming at a time when President Muhammadu Buhari expressed optimism that more of the abducted Chibokgirls will be released.
